Morley's Final Catalogue: ''Very rare. Combs Wood, near Stowmarket (H. H. Crewe)'': but not in Nat. 1858. None later; needs confirmation.

Recent Suffolk Status: Uncertain. No records in database.
Combs Wood has been searched by the Suffolk Moth group but this species hasn't been found there again.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Red chestnut lacks the white kidney mark and oval spot.

Habitat: Woodland.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.
